Rail lines blocked due to safety issue near York

There’s disruption on the trains due to an issue near York this morning (Wednesday).

A safety inspection of the track is underway between York and Doncaster.

LNER says: “The southbound line from York is blocked while the inspection is being carried out. Currently no services can depart south of York.

“Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 15 minutes. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

“We are working with Network Rail to get our services moving again as quickly as possible. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

They say if your LNER train has been cancelled, you will be able to use your existing ticket on another LNER service.

You will then be able to board the next LNER service to London King’s Cross upon arrival at Leeds.

Meanwhile, National Rail reports a safety inspection of the track between Darlington / Yarm and York means that trains have to run at a reduced speed on the line towards York. As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.
