As filming continues in York this week for the hit show Patience, YorkMix sat down with the cast of the Channel 4 drama to find out more about the new series.
Filming began in York last week outside York Minster, which attracted a large crowd of spectators, and aboard a City Cruises vessel yesterday.
Yesterday, the cast and crew could be seen shooting in the iconic York Museum Gardens around the Grade II* listed building the Hospitium.
The upcoming season is expected to air in January 2027 on Channel 4 for an extended duration of ten episodes.
“We’re so lucky this season as all the actors who are coming to guest are a stellar line-up,” said Bafta award-winning actress Jessica Hynes, who plays DI Frankie Monroe.
Some of the guest names for the new series have been announced to be acting legend Geraldine James (Downton Abbey, Anne with an E) and Bafta-nominated actress Jane Asher.

Naturalist Chris Packham is also set to make a star appearance, though his character role is yet to be revealed.
“He’s never a murder suspect,” Jessica teased, “but he’s briefly considered.”
The new series is set to be more “action-packed” than ever before, with an murders set on an aeroplane, a hotel swimming pool, and rural village.
Though series three may be taking a darker turn, the humour is only growing. “The humour gets more intense each series,” said Tom Lewis, who plays Elliot Scott. “I do think this is the funniest season.”
Patience (Ella Maisy Purvis) continues to bring her unique insight to a series of perplexing cases, and after initial clashes with motorbike-riding DI Frankie Monroe (Jessica Hynes) in Series 2, Patience and Frankie are now close colleagues and even friends.

As well as taking a new step in her romantic life in Series 3, family bonds bring a new horizon for Patience as she navigates building a relationship with her estranged half-sister Joy while investigating her father’s death.
Was the car crash that killed him really an accident or is there more to the case than meets the eye?
Alongside Ella Maisy Purvis and Jessica Hynes, returning cast members include Nathan Welsh (Jake Hunter), Tom Lewis (Elliot Scott), Adrian Rawlins (Douglas Gilmour), Liza Sadovy (Loretta Parsons), Ali Ariaie (Will Akbari) and Hannah Tointon (Joy).
Filming continues in York this week.
