Engineering work is taking place between Doncaster / Leeds and Darlington, closing various lines through York.
It’s the same next weekend (Nov 1/2) too and then on the one after that (Nov 8/9) the line between York and Doncaster will be closed.
It means York’s station platforms are unusually quiet with the exception of the ones used for Scarborough and Malton trains, the only service not using buses.
All rail operators are affected by the closure of rail tracks for essential work.
CrossCountry – for Birmingham and the South West
Buses will replace trains between Leeds and Darlington only.
Grand Central at Thirsk, York and Northallerton
No trains will run between London Kings Cross and Sunderland all weekend.
LNER – The East Coast Main Line
Buses will replace trains between Doncaster and Northallerton / Darlington, and between Wakefield Westgate and York all weekend.
Northern – Local Trains
No trains will run between Blackpool North and York, between Sheffield and York, and between Leeds and York via Garforth.
Buses will replace trains between:
- Moorthorpe and York
- Selby and York
- Micklefield and York
- York and Knaresborough
TransPennine Express
No trains will run between Leeds and York via Cross Gates.
- Trains between Liverpool Lime Street, Selby and Hull will call additionally at Newton-le-Willows
- Trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Scarborough will run between York, Malton and Scarborough
- Trains between Manchester Piccadilly and York will instead run between Manchester Piccadilly and Wakefield Kirkgate via Huddersfield
- Trains between Manchester Victoria and York will instead run between Manchester Victoria and Leeds via Huddersfield / Dewsbury
- Trains between Manchester Airport and Redcar Central will instead run between Manchester Airport and Leeds via Huddersfield / Dewsbury
Replacement bus services will operate between:
- Leeds and York
- Wakefield Kirkgate and York
- York and Northallerton
- York and Redcar Central
