It may be back to school week – but this weekend is going to bring a last blast of summer.
York and North Yorkshire are set to enjoy warm and sunny days before temperatures start to drop next week.
While the Midlands and the South are subject to rain weather warnings, the North of England is looking a lot brighter.
Friday and Saturday are set to see highs of 24°C in York and North Yorkshire, with sunshine most of the time.
Sunday – the day of the YorkMix Family Raceday at York Racecourse – will be another dry day, with sunny intervals and a top temperature of 23°C.
Met Office meteorologist Alex Deakin said the UK was currently experiencing a closed low-pressure system, what is known as a “cut-off low” also known as a “weatherman’s-woe”, as the weather becomes more difficult to predict in detail.
So, while it is looking very wet for the next four days down South, up here we have the best of the Indian Summer sunshine.
