News, Things to do

The YorkMix Family Raceday is back this Sunday – with family fun, racing excitement, and a special guest.

YorkMix have once again teamed up with York Racecourse for a special raceday that’s fun for all the family.

For 2024, the annual raceday features a seven-race thoroughbred card approaching £250,000 in prize money and plenty of children’s entertainment like giant inflatables and zorb football in the ‘Entertainment Marquee’.

The YorkMix Family Raceday will take place on Sunday 8 September. Gates open from 11:15am, with the first race at 1:40pm. Take a look at all the details below.

Meet Bluey at the YorkMix Family Raceday!

The special guest again this year is the popular children’s character, Bluey, who you will be able to see at intervals throughout the afternoon.

David Green, managing director of YorkMix said, “As a radio station for all the family, we’re so pleased to be able to join forces with York Racecourse once again.

“Of course, our own mascot, Mixie will be on hand to give out plenty of YorkMix goodies, but even she’s excited to meet Bluey!”

Bluey will be making appearances in the Entertainment Marquee. A range of activities will also be taking place in the marquee, including giant inflatables, Joe’s Animal Encounters, zorb football, Diggerland, face painting, and more.

The Racing Interactive Zone will also offer the chance to ride a virtual racehorse, try on racing silks, question the experts and enter a colouring competition.
