A broadcaster and mature model based near Easingwold is on TV tonight in the new series of the BBC 2 reality show, Take a Hike.
Annie Stirk says she was asked to talk to producers with a view to taking part in the series based on walking but was surprised when they told her she was on board for series two.
The BBC describes the show in this way:
Five hikers go head to head to find Britain’s best walks.
Taking it in turns to lead, they’ll be judged on their route, picnic, views and fun.
Who will win the prize?
Annie, who forged a second career for herself as a mature model, which included appearing in a provocative poster advert, told YorkMix Radio:
“Although the five of us feature in every show we each take a turn to host one of the walks.
“My episode will be on Friday at 6:30pm, however we kick start tonight at 6:30pm with Paul’s walk at Malham Cove and Gordale Scar followed by Ilaria’s walk around Ilkley Moor which is on at 7pm. (Tuesday 3 Jan)
“Paul is a hiking blogger, otherwise known as the Bald Hiker, who believes the world-famous Dales and jaw-dropping geology around Gordale Scar and Malham Cove is Yorkshire’s finest walk.
“Ilaria, took us to her favourite walk, Ilkley Moor which draws walkers from all over to experience its wild grandeur.
“Then I host the last Yorkshire hike on a wildlife spotter’s paradise along the coastal paths to Flamborough Head.”
Annie says it’s more than just a walk and there are some interesting challenges that she is not at liberty to talk about ahead of transmission.
She said it was a fun series to film and as a dedicated dog walker it was right up her street (or hill)
The series can be seen live or via the BBC iPlayer after transmission.
