Police are stepping up their patrols in a York suburb after an outbreak of trouble last night (Sunday).
Officers said they are aware of the concern in Tang Hall after the problems overnight, which included arson attacks.
And they are calling on residents to report any bad behaviour to them as soon as it occurs.
In a statement released this afternoon, York police said: “We understand the concerns raised regarding youth-related anti-social behaviour in our community last night, including incidents of arson.
“Our priority is your safety, and we’re actively addressing these issues.
“Arson is a serious offence with potentially life-threatening consequences. We urge anyone with information about these incidents to come forward and assist us in our investigation.
“Our officers are increasing patrols in affected areas to deter further anti-social behaviour and provide reassurance to residents.
“If you witness any suspicious behaviour, please report it to us immediately.”
As YorkMix reported earlier, youths were blamed for a fire started in a play park off Alcuin Avenue at 8.52pm last night.
The police added: “We’re also working closely with local partners and youth services to engage with young people positively, offering support and guidance to prevent future incidents.
“Together, we can make our community safer for everyone.”
They said people should call 999 in an emergency or if a crime is in progress. For non-emergencies, call 101.
