Props arrive for ITV filming in York

It’s odd to see washing hanging out in Lady Peckett’s Yard – particularly when the clothes look like they’ve come from a museum.

A clue to the puzzling appearance of the laundry comes from the fact that ITV drama Victoria is due to be filming in York this weekend.

The third series of the popular show, starring Jenna Coleman as Queen Victoria and Laurence Fox as Lord Palmerston, is filming at locations around Yorkshire and at Church Fenton Studios.

To allow for the location shoot, the Eye of York will be closed to vehicles from 7am on Saturday until 6.30pm on Sunday.

Castlegate will be shut from 11am until 6.30pm on Sunday and there will also be traffic restrictions on Fossgate, Piccadilly and Tower Street on the weekend.

It isn’t the first time the series has been shot in York, with previous scenes taking place at the Minster School and Merchant Adventurers’ Hall

Power cut in York city centre

Hundreds of buildings have been left without electricity in York this afternoon.

A power cut was reported in the YO1 and YO10 postcodes at 2.22pm. Northern Powergrid say it has been caused by problems with cables and equipment that serve the area.

They are working to restore the power, and estimate that the lights will be back on by 4pm.

Missing York man found

Good news – the man who we reported was missing earlier today has been found, safe and well.
