Three suspects have been arrested and charged after an ongoing police operation to fight crime in Selby.
On 14 December, officers from Selby Neighbourhood Policing Team – in both high-visibility uniform, and plain clothes – deployed to the town centre.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Their vigilance paid off, resulting in the arrest of two suspects, a man and a woman both in their 30s.
“Thanks to a significant team effort, also involving Response officers, and colleagues in our Investigation Hub, they were charged with several shop thefts.”
Another suspect, a woman in her 20s, was also arrested and charged with 17 offences, including thefts from vehicles, fraud and the possession of drugs.
The spokesperson added: “That’s a really significant number of offences, so this is a great result. And we’re not going to stop there.
“With your support, we can continue to cut crime and bring offenders to justice. If you have information about offending, let us know about it.
“Every piece of information we receive can and will help us. Just call 101, or report crime and anti-social behaviour online via our website.”
