The Cornish Bakery has today (Monday) revealed its expanded flagship location on Coney Street, York.
The 135 square meter expansion follows the takeover of the adjacent unit, formerly occupied by Krispy Kreme.
The two units have been combined, and has more than doubled the size of the existing bakery – allowing for a significant increase in seating, from 16 to 66, across two floors.

The plans for the expansion were unveiled back in January – and now it’s open for the public to enjoy.
The independent company has been established in York since 2017, with two bakeries on Coney Street and Colliergate.
The significantly increased seating area combines a mix of banquette-style tables, communal seating, and comfortable nooks, designed to suit everyone from solo digital nomads to family and group lunches.

Cornish Bakery managing director, Mat Finch said, “This is an exciting milestone for us.
“With this expansion, we have doubled down our investment in the city, creating an even more generous, style-led, comfortable space in the heart of York where locals and visitors can escape to and relax. This is a clear sign of our long-term commitment to the city, its community and visitors.”
Mat continued, “The expansion also comes as we continue work behind the scenes to restore our Colliergate bakery, which has remained closed following an unfortunate fire earlier this year.
“Colliergate remains very much part of our York story and we’re working through the necessary processes and are committed to reopening as soon as possible.”
The newly expanded bakery will continue to peddle Cornish Bakery’s range of products including croissants, tortillas, scones and Cornish pastries.
It will be open every day of the week, from 8am to 5pm.
