It is the first in a three-part series taking a look at what really goes on in our stately homes.
“This magical series gains unprecedented, behind-the-scenes access to a trio of the country’s greatest houses as they deck their halls and transform for Christmas in their own unique ways,” Channel 4 says.
Every year, Castle Howard’s creative director Charlotte Lloyd Webber and her team are tasked with transforming the house and grounds for the festive season.
This year they create Narnia, with theatrical set pieces, lighting and sound effects.
Meanwhile, owner Nick Howard is photographing the annual Christmas card. However, when the tree arrives late and proves too big too fit, it requires emergency surgery with a chainsaw.
Christmas at Castle Howard is on Channel 4 on Wednesday, 15 December at 9pm
