It’s almost that time of year again when Strictly brings glitz and glamour back to our TV screens – and one of the celebrities is from North Yorkshire!
The beloved BBC dancing show has been announcing their 2024 lineup on Instagram this week ahead of their brand new series.
Among the celebrity contestants announced so far is Love Island star and TV personality Tasha Ghouri, from Thirsk.
The announcement was revealed on Instagram earlier today (Wednesday).
Tasha, 25, who appeared on Love Island in 2022, made history as the show’s first deaf contestant. She was born deaf and wears a cochlear implant.
As well as being a TV personality, Tasha is also a model and a dancer. In a heartfelt post on her Instagram after the Strictly news was revealed, she said that her “passion for dance started when I could feel the bass and vibrations through my body by the huge floor standing speakers in our family home.”
Tasha also added that she is “dancing to represent and offer confidence to anyone, with a disability or not, that struggles to believe in themselves or the opportunities they could take.”
Other celebrity contestants for the 2024 line-up include comedian Chris McCausland – the show’s first blind contestant, JLS member and TV presenter JB Gill, and singer and actress Toyah Willcox.
Strictly Come Dancing is set to return in autumn 2024, with exact broadcasting details to be confirmed.
The iconic dancing show is celebrating its 20th year this year.
