A popular York store is getting ready to unveil a big new look.
B&M at Clifton Moor will double in size in response to demands from customers.
We reported in December that the discount retailer was planning to take over the shop next door – empty after Shoezone relocated nearby.
Now work to refit that unit is almost complete, and the new B&M store will be unveiled on Thursday 23 March.
“Following feedback from regular customers that said they wanted a bigger shop and even more products; the store team have been transforming the shop,” a B&M spokesperson said.
“The new store will be much bigger than the previous with the sales floor measuring over 21,400 sq ft offering customers a bigger range of products across all departments.
“The store will also be expanding its garden centre to 8,503 sq ft, selling hundreds of plant varieties and gardening essentials.
“Customers can expect to find a wide variety of branded groceries for the best possible price including a range of food, drink, and pet food.
“There will also be a fantastic selection of quality health and beauty products, homeware, electricals, DIY essentials, toys, games, gifts and plenty more to explore.”
Members of staff were asked to nominate a charity they thought deserved VIP treatment for all the good work they do.

They chose Foundation York, and representatives of the charity will officially open the expanded B&M.
Foundation York has been working for more than 30 years building better lives for those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
They help those who have complex needs, offender history, family breakdown, domestic abuse, addiction, or mental health issues.
The B&M spokesperson said: “Our colleagues have been working really hard to get the store looking fantastic for opening day, we are so excited to show customers the new and improved B&M store.”
B&M moved into Unit 7 in Stirling Road, Clifton Moor, in early 2019, after its store nearby was destroyed by a huge fire.
The new premises were smaller than the old ones, and the company has been looking to expand since the move.
