He is a supreme fundraiser, a motivational speaker and a popular radio presenter.
Now Ryan Swain has been nominated for a top award.
Ryan, from Malton, is in the running for Inspirational Individual Of The Year in the Yorkshire Choice Awards.
The presenter and DJ has raised more than £25,000 for various NHS charities during the pandemic with a series of live streams, game shows and DJ sets, which helped to keep people’s spirits up during lockdown.
And Ryan, 31, has led two campaigns. For Rescue The Ramp, a crusade to save an iconic half pipe ramp at the Norton and Malton Skatepark, he managed to get world famous skateboarder Tony Hawk’s support – and sponsorship of £15,000.
Meanwhile, ADHD & Me is Ryan’s motivational touring show. Aimed mainly young people, it encourages them to speak out about their own mental health disorders.
Ryan has been doing the talk in schools, colleges, universities, community groups and theatres across the country, as well as to global audiences online.
The YorkMix Radio DJ, who presents The Party Mix on Saturday nights, said he was ‘overwhelmed’ by the award nomination.
“When I found I’d be nominated for this award I actually cried,” he said, adding that he loves to “make a positive difference to people’s lives”.
“If I can use my name and status to help someone then I will do.”
YorkMix Radio is also up for the Starter Business of the Year award.
Winners are chosen by public vote. You can vote here.
“If I was to win it I’d dedicate it to my twin daughters Ivy and Isla,” Ryan said.
