The Ebor Festival opens today, promising four days of amazing entertainment and extraordinary sport.
The Sky Bet Ebor Festival offers three Group One races across four days and has attracted some of the best horses in training as the British season is in full swing.
These include the world’s highest rated racehorse Baaeed. He will put his unbeaten record on the line in the Juddmonte International Stakes, the highlight on the opening day.
York Racecourse head of marketing James Brennan told David and Laura on YorkMix Radio‘s breakfast show this morning: “We’re in good order ahead of our fabulous four days.
“We’re looking forward to seeing literally the world’s best horse – Baaeed, the highest ranked horse on the planet, is set to go in our million pound fixture the Juddmonte International this afternoon.”
There’s record prize money across the festival so all the racing will be top class.
And away from the racetrack there’s fabulous entertainment, James said, including “the York Gin Ebor Fashion Lawn and the British champions series fanzone going across in the middle.
“We’ve got #StradStyle on Friday, 360° selfies, brass bands, Irish foot stomping bands, fabulous Yorkshire cuisine – it’s all go here and we’re really looking forward to it.”
Gates open at 11am each day. The forecast is for dry weather for the next four days, James added.
“It’s £15 for an adult into the Clocktower Enclosure, under 18s are free anywhere,” he said.
“And you can bring a picnic into the Clocktower Enclosure, so it’s our little part doing something for the cost of living crisis.
“Fifteen quid for an adult, children free, bring a picnic and see the world’s best racehorse.”
