Changes to some LNER services announced

Rail passengers are being warned of timetable changes due to planned works this coming week.

LNER services between Doncaster and Leeds will be affected by the engineering works.

Some lines will be closed between Doncaster and Leeds in the evenings from Monday, June 8 until Thursday, June 11.

During this period, there are two affected London Kings Cross to Leeds services.

The 2240 service to Leeds will not stop at Wakefield Westgate and will arrive at Leeds Station later than scheduled.

To assist the journey, a replacement bus is being organised from Doncaster to Wakefield Westgate.

Similarly, the 2333 service from London Kings Cross will arrive later than usual into Leeds.

National Rail has advised rail users to plan their journeys using its Journey Planner feature ahead of time.

Due to a short-notice change to the timetable, some customers booked to travel on specific weekday trains between London King’s Cross, York, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, in both directions, may have received an email advising that their train is no longer running.

However, all trains are still planned to run between London King’s Cross and Aberdeen in both directions and customers who have received these emails will still be able to travel.

These services will now operate as direct trains, rather than requiring a change in Edinburgh as previously timetabled.

The following LNER services will now operate as direct trains between Aberdeen and London King’s Cross via Edinburgh between Monday 8 June and Friday 12 June, and between Monday 22 and Friday 26 June, inclusive.

  • 14.52 Aberdeen to London King’s Cross
  • 14.03 London King’s Cross to Aberdeen

Previously, customers would have been required to change trains at Edinburgh.
