A body has been recovered from the river in York today (Thursday).
The man’s body was spotted in the River Foss and recovered by police this afternoon.
Officers, accompanied by volunteers from the York Rescue Boat, were earlier seen close to the Blue Bridge and Foss Barrier.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Police searching for a missing man have located a body in the river in York.
“Sadly, the body of a man was recovered from the River Foss this afternoon.
“The man was reported missing yesterday afternoon.
“His family have been informed, and are being supported by specially trained officers.
“It is not believed there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
