York Minster’s back garden has never looked like this before.
Part of Dean’s Park has been converted into an outdoor chill zone, complete with cushion-bedecked platforms, lanterns and a tipi bar.

These are now in place for the first Heart Of Yorkshire Festival, organised by York Minster.
The event runs throughout the summmer and includes exhibitions, movies, events, workshops and activities for all ages.
There will be activities for children and grown-ups, an outdoor cinema, and a stone carving festival.
Outdoor bar and barbie
The first part of the festival to open is the brand new tipi bar. Called Sól Ást (‘sun love’ in Old Norse), it is from the same people who bring us Thor’s Tipi at Christmas.
Actually created with two linked canvas tipis, and adorned with greenery and lanterns, it is a unique venue.
A large outdoor garden comes with day beds and a terrace, offers visitors the chance to enjoy one of the most magnificent settings in the country with a drink in hand.
Its drinks menu features Pimm’s, local draft ale and the signature cocktail, the Minster Martini.
There’s also coffee from Coffee Culture, tea and summery soft drinks.
Food comes via a barbecue, and includes Yorkshire sausages and burgers made from locally sourced meat and vegetarian options.

Thrilling location
Co-founder of Thor’s Bars Ltd Amanda Monaghan said it was their first summer bar – and they were thrilled to open it in such an iconic location. She said:
