An award-winning piece of theatre inspired by the life of Nina Simone is coming to York Theatre Royal.
The show will feature an array of her most iconic songs performed live, with sensational vocals from Florence Odumosu.
Black Is The Color Of My Voice is at York Theatre Royal for one night only on Wednesday 26 February.
After sell-out seasons in Shanghai, New York, Edinburgh and London’s West End, Black Is The Color Of My Voice is set to move and captivate York audiences on its extensive national tour.
Written and directed by Apphia Campbell, the acclaimed play follows a successful singer and civil rights activist as she seeks redemption after the untimely death of her father.
She reflects on the journey that took her from a young piano prodigy destined for a life in the service of the church, to a renowned jazz vocalist at the forefront of the Civil Rights Movement.
Tickets start from £15 and are available via the York Theatre Royal website or by calling the box office on 01904 623568.
