A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being found with serious injuries in York.
The 25-year-old man was discovered at the bottom of the steps on Dame Judi Dench Walk next to Lendal Bridge at 3.03am today (Friday).
He has been taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he remains in a critical condition. Police say he is from London.
Lendal Bridge is closed while police conduct an investigation to determine the full circumstances of the incident. Forensic scenes of crime officers are at the bridge.

Lendal Bridge was closed to traffic for several hours, with buses being diverted on some routes. It was reopened shortly before midday.
