Dancers from a York group have won through to a competition in Florida.
Fantasy Cheer and Dance has been running since 2006, and is based at Vale of York academy in Clifton.
Last month the dance teams entered a competition. “Our senior Lyrica team placed first place and our junior dance team Elegance won a bid to compete at Summit in Orlando in April 2022,” said head coach Natalie Lyon.

“This is the first ever team to win this bid and an amazing opportunity for them. We are very proud of all the girls for all the hard work they have put in.”
There are 18 girls on the team aged between 10-14.
“During lockdown we put on free Zoom classes to all our members so they could train and keep active with a full timetable across the week.
“Once we were back in the gym the girls only had six weeks to practice and dance with the team again.”
Fantasy Cheer and Dance is a non-profit organisation run by volunteer coaches.
The girls are now taking part in lots of fundraising to help towards the cost of the trip. And one of the activities the girls are doing is walking/running the miles from York to Orlando.
You can donate to the cause at this Go Fund Me page.
“We are also looking for any sponsorship or donations of raffle prizes to help the team,” said Natalie. If you can help, email [email protected].
