Meet Noah Farr, one of the bravest and most resilient young people around.
Noah has had around 50 life-saving operations – and he is set to spend his seventh birthday in hospital awaiting more surgery.
Now his mum Diane has made a special plea on his behalf. Will you send Noah a birthday card to cheer him up?
Diane told YorkMix: “Noah is seven on May 24 and we have received a call that he will be admitted to hospital for an extended stay and for an operation on this date.
“This isn’t the first birthday he has spent in hospital but it is the first one he’s been so excited to celebrate, counting down the days and showing us exactly what he would like.
“Telling him that unfortunately he will be spending it in hospital has broken his heart and scuppered any plans we had to make this one special after the terrible year he has had.
“He’s nervous, anxious and sad that this is happening.
“I was hoping some of you reading this would help make him see how special and thought of he is by sending him a card.”
Send a card to Noah
Noah will be in hospital for up to two weeks, so cards arriving up to 29 May would be fine.
If you would like to send a card, send it to:

and we will get them to him.
An amazing boy
The family live in Carlton, near Selby. Noah was born at York Hospital and within a few minutes he had stopped breathing and needed to be resuscitated a few times.
Something was seriously wrong. Doctors found his oesophagus was not attached to his stomach, and his stomach was attached to his lungs. This was the start of a very long list of diagnoses.
Since then he has had countless health appointments and many major operations on his kidney, bladder and heart.
Diane said: “He has also recently recovered from a stay in the intensive care unit in Leeds where we were told as a family to prepare for the worst as Noah was on life support for an extended amount of time.
“He fought back and amazed everyone including the doctors.”
Soon after he was born, the family were told not to expect too much as he would probably not survive.
“After every hospital admission Noah bounces back to his happy little self, he honestly has more strength than I have ever seen on anyone, especially for all he goes through,” said his mum.
“He really is the happiest little boy who amazes us all daily with everything he goes through and will always have to go through. “
