There’s a cracking pantomime coming to York this year – oh yes there is!
Berwick Kaler and the gang are back at the Grand Opera House York this Christmas – with The Adventures of Old Granny Goose.
Audiences can expect to see the whole usual cast together – with David Leonard, AJ Powell, Suzy Cooper and Martin Barrass joining Berwick on stage once more.
The Adventures of Old Granny Goose is at the Grand Opera House from Saturday 10 December 2022 to Sunday 8 January 2023.
YorkMix Radio presenter Ben Fry caught up with the cast to find out more about the show.
“It is called Old Granny,” said Berwick, “but this old granny goose does not have grandchildren or anything; in fact she has 18 year old twins.”
When asked if there’s a script in sight yet, Berwick said he’d “never heard of it.”
But Berwick said “you’ll have a laugh if nowt else!”
The question of plot might still be up in the air, but that’s all part of the fun – and audiences can be assured there will be plenty of laughs in store.

This year, the show is being brought to the stage by UK Productions – who have been producing Christmas pantomimes across the UK for nearly 30 years.
Producer Martin Dodd said: “It is truly a privilege to be working with the legendary Berwick Kaler and his co-stars.
“I really am excited to be presenting this fabulously unique and much-loved pantomime that is as much a part of the York Christmas tradition as Turkey (or Goose!) and stuffing.
“We can promise a cracking good show full of laughter, music, and mayhem.”
Tickets are currently on sale and start from £13. You can book your tickets via the Grand Opera House website.
