He stopped traffic last year – and York’s giant Santa is set to do the same this Christmas.
The 8m (26ft) tall inflatable Father Christmas is back on Hodgson Lane in Upper Poppleton, on the Green opposite the Lord Collingwood pub.
He towers over the home of his owners, Peter and Kathryn Routledge and their two boys.
The Santa, who takes about ten minutes to inflate using a bouncy castle pump, made his full debut last year.
This year, there are two snow machines that visitors can operate using a foot button.
The display is again raising money for a good cause – this year they are fundraising for St Leonard’s Hospice who were a great support to the Routledge family during Peter’s mother last month in May.
Peter said: “They were absolutely wonderful and this is one of our efforts to say thank you and hopefully help them to continue to provide care and support to others.”
You can donate at the display or via this JustGiving page.
The family are also accepting donations of tinned goods and dried foods for John McGall who helps homeless people and runs the I Am Reusable community food bank in York.
