During National Apprenticeship Week and National Careers Week, York College is hosting its first ever Employment Marketplace. This free event, at the College’s Sim Balk Lane campus, on Tuesday 5th March (between 3.00pm – 7.30pm) is open to local employers as well as students looking to take their next steps and to those looking for employment opportunities with local businesses in and around the city.
York College works with a variety of local businesses, from sole traders to large national and even international organisations. For students studying a range of courses and subjects, the event will provide a valuable opportunity to find out about a future career path.
For local employers the event will help to showcase career and job opportunities that are available now and in the future. It’s the perfect chance for employers to engage with potential applicants, to talk about apprenticeships, vacancies, training schemes or placements and to network with local businesses and make professional connections.
For those visiting the employer stands, the event will enable them to engage with businesses and understand their training pathways and career prospects. Visitors will be able to take away application forms and current vacancy lists to kick-start their career searches.
Workshops led by careers experts and business leaders on a range of topics including Interview Skills, CV Writing and Application Hints and Tips. Applying for jobs can be challenging and the aim of the Marketplace is to breakdown barriers between employers and potential candidates.
For visitors coming to meet with employers there is no need to book in advance, just turn up on the day, bring your CV and any burning questions you may have.
There are still spaces for employers to attend; to book a stand please contact the Business Development Unit either by email [email protected] or call Tel: 01904 770368 Option 1.
