The producer of York’s Festival of Remembrance says she is delighted to be able to run the popular event once more after the disappointment of having to cancel last year due to Covid restrictions
Sandie Dunleavy has found an unusual venue for this Sunday’s event (Nov 7) as for the first time in it’s long history, the York Festival of Remembrance will be held in a church.

The venue this year will be The Central Methodist Hall, in St Saviourgate.
Sandie says” The audience will be sitting ‘in the round’ as the interior is a series of circles.
“Fitting in the Generation Groove Band and the Community Chorus, both from Haxby is quite a challenge but I was determined to have the 2021 Festival as it has proved over three decades to be very important to people in York.
“Not least the many veterans who are supported by The Royal British Legion.”
The church doors will be open at 2.30, ahead of the official start time of 3pm.
Tickets on the door.
