Pantomime season is coming – oh yes it is! And one of our own YorkMix Radio presenters is making a starring turn.
We’re so excited that breakfast show host Laura Castle will be starring as the fairy godmother Fairy Flo in the Rowntree Players’ Cinderella at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre this Christmas.
The ‘rollicking romp of a panto’ will feature all your favourite characters, as well as songs, dance, silliness and family fun.
Cinderella is at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre from 9 to 16 December 2023.
“I’ve always wanted to be in a pantomime so I can’t wait to live that dream,” said Laura.
“The audience can expect a cavalcade of brilliant characters, slapstick comedy, lots of ooohs and aaahs, boos and hisses, and many laughs. All of the things you come to expect from a pantomime, but on a whole other level!
“And who knows.. I may have a bejewelled kazoo as well as a wand!”
The cast also features
- Sara Howlett as Cinderella
- Gemma McDonald as Buttons
- Barry Johnson as Baron Hardup
- Marie-Louise Surgenor as the Wicked Queen
- Jamie McKeller as Cassandra
- Michael Cornell as Miranda
- Jeanette Hunter as the Queen of Hearts
- Hannah King as Prince Charming
- and Sophie Bullivant as Dandini.
Sara Howlett said, “The energy the cast brings is out of this world. The colour and creativity of the set and props is next level.
“The costumes complement the show and characters in every way. The songs are brilliant; the script is hilarious and the choreography is fantastic.
“Get yourself down to the Joseph Rowntree Theatre and join us for some magic and fun this Christmas!”
Get your glass slippers and gowns ready – Cinderella is on from 9 to 16 December 2023.
