The Hero Awards ceremony will take place at the Principal York on Thursday 10 November.
With thanks to our awards supporters!

Meet the finalists…
Olivia Cole – The York Dungeon
Olivia ‘Liv’ Cole is the performance manager of York Dungeon, and was appointed to the position during the summer of 2021. In that time Liv has “galvanised, nurtured, and cared for her team” of up to 35 actors.
During her time at York Dungeon, Liv has written and launched three brand new shows for the attraction, and supports her teams’ personal lives outside of rehearsal – offering confidential advice and care for her team as a qualified mental health first aider.
One person who nominated her said “the constant care and dedication towards her team of actors is one of the core reasons why Liv makes an exceptional boss.
“She is super thoughtful, is always checking on [her team] to make sure that their mental and physical health is in a good place, and is always asking her team how she can improve how she looks after them.”

Holly Hennell – York Cares
Holly Hennell has worked with the charity York Cares since its formation. In a professional capacity, Holly has given her team the freedom to be creative and feel supported.
One person who nominated her said that “Holly makes this team a family by caring passionately not only about the work York Cares does across York but about her team and their well being.
“Holly has also been incredibly supportive to the team throughout their personal lives.”
During the pandemic, Holly supported a pregnant team member who fell ill by offering to deliver them shopping and making sure that they were able to manage their workload and keeping in touch regularly.
Robert Haythorn – NHS Podiatry
Rob Haythorn stepped into a manager post when the department was “on its knees”. As well as working long hours, he makes sure staff get regular fruit boxes from the community charity and is contactable at any hour of the day.
Someone who nominated him said that “Rob literally has been our knight in shining armour.
“He works long hours to make sure all staff leave feeling positive, even after a bad day. He covers clinics at the drop of a hat, and has bags of empathy for staff.
“He’s turned the department round to somewhere where staff want to stay and work.”
Congratulations to all of our finalists!
The winner of The Best Boss Award will be revealed in our Hero Awards ceremony at the Principal York on Thursday 10 November.
