The YorkMix Choice Awards are coming – and we’re ready to celebrate businesses in our area that are making a difference.
The awards, sponsored by Yorkshire Profiles, are unique to any others as there are no judges – the finalists and winners are all chosen by you.
Yes, the people voting for the awards are our readers and listeners who use the nominated businesses day in and day out.
But first we need some nominations – and there’s 18 different categories to choose from.

- Best Cafe or Tea Room
- Best Hair & Beauty
- Best Place to Stay
- Best Tradesperson
- Best Pub or Bar
- Best Restaurant
- Best Wedding Venue
- Best Entertainment Venue
- Best Event
- Best Small Gym
- Best Large Gym
- Best Under 18s Activity Group
- Best Service Business/Organisation (such as legal, financial, estate agents)
- Best Independent Retail Business
- Best New Business (started within last 18 months)
- Best Small Attraction
- Best Large Attraction
- Charity of the Year
Nominations for the first round of voting closes on Thursday 6 April 2023 at 23:59:00. Please only nominate a business or organisation if you are legally able to represent it, for example if you own the business or you are an employee with permission to nominate.
And all eligible nominations go automatically through to the first round!
The first round of voting will then open from Tuesday 11 April.
Once the voting process is complete, the winners will be crowned in a live ceremony later this year at the Principal York Hotel.
