YorkMix celebrate International Women’s Day – with free event for women in business
YorkMix are celebrating International Women’s Day – by championing some brilliant women in business.
We hosted a free networking event today (Wednesday) filled with coffee, chats and cocktails with some incredible business women from York and the North Yorkshire area.
It took place at Impossible York this afternoon.
It was a wonderful turn out with women from local businesses and establishments such as Cut and Craft, Eden Camp, Iris Graphics, York Mumbler, St Peter’s School, St Leonard’s Hospice – and even the Lord Mayor of York was there too.
YorkMix Radio presenters Laura Castle and Victoria Charles were there, as well as other YorkMix team members.
It was great to chat with the women attending to find out more about what they do, and to also find out what International Women’s Day means to them.
“International Women’s Day, for me, it’s all about reminding ourselves to support each other as women,” said Emily Pickard, founder of York parenting website York Mumbler.
“I always like to remind everyone that whilst it’s about supporting women, because there is such inequality still, I want to make sure it’s not a divisive thing. I think the reason I feel competent as a woman is down to my dad and my brother as much as my mum and my sister.
“I think we should all come together and celebrate the women in our lives – and I’d encourage the men out there to do that as well.”

“International Women’s Day for me definitely means a lot as all of our team is mostly women in management,” said Charlotte Lynskey, guest experience manager at The Cut & Craft in Leeds. “It’s amazing to have such amazing, strong, incredible ladies running the restaurant.”
“I’m from York originally so it’s nice to head back up and just meet some amazing ladies.”
Thank you to everyone who attended our event, it was inspiring to be in a room full of women in business – and happy International Women’s Day from everyone here at YorkMix!
