Staff at a York wine bar were left in ‘complete shock’ this morning (December 30) following a break-in.
Quinns, Haxby, had their glass front door smashed during the early hours, and thieves helped themselves to bottles of wine as well as the till drawer.
The incident occurred at around 4.30am and staff are currently working alongside North Yorkshire Police to find the culprits.
Quinns have clear CCTV clips of the incident from both inside and outside the premises, and they’re appealing for anyone who may have more footage to come forward.
Despite this, staff are feeling shaken after being welcomed into the site this morning with glass shards all over the floor.
One of the owners, Amy Dallin, told YorkMix: “It’s a horrible feeling, I was in complete shock this morning when I got the phone call. It just feels like a complete violation especially after how hard we have worked this year!”
The news was shared to Quinns Facebook and Instagram pages, and was met with hundreds of reactions and words of support.
One person said: “So sorry to read this, hope those involved get caught asap! Sending love to all of your lovely staff.”
Another resident responded, “I’m willing to replace the glass at cost price for you, no labour. Hate to see things like this.”
Amy Dallin owns the wine bar alongside Leann Williams and Eileen Goodwin.
They’ve pledged to get the business back up and running just in time for New Years Eve tomorrow.
Friends, family, and local businesses have all assisted with the clean up today in order to make that happen.
Amy told YorkMix: “We have the best staff anyone could ask for and our customers are so lovely and supportive, also the other local businesses and community have been very supportive so we will bounce back!
“We are so lucky that we have a good support network and everyone has rallied round us today, we will be up and running tomorrow for new year and we aren’t going to let this keep us down.”
