Rising costs have forced a York pub to close a day a week.
The Black Horse at Wigginton will shut every Wednesday, the pub revealed on Facebook.
“Due to continuing rising costs across board we have made the decision to close the pub on Wednesdays all together now,” the post said.
“We hope this won’t be permanent, and apologies for any inconvenience caused. The pub will still be available to hire for small wakes in advance.”
The Black Horse is run by James Wright and his partner Kate Hickey. They took over in March 2019, so had only been in charge for less than a year when the Covid restrictions hit.
The pub is a well known for its food, live music, quizzes and poker nights. It has also hosted beer festivals, raising money for St Leonard’s Hospice.
James and Kate posted: “Thank you again for your continued support on the days we are open. It has been a tricky three and a half years since we took over.
“Hopefully over the next 12 months we can get back to normal.”
Their announcement was met with a lot of support from locals. One said simply: “Keep up the great work.”
