New year, new accolade.
As everyone’s thoughts turn to holidays, one national magazine has published its lists of 19 of the best places to visit in the UK – and York is number one.
Complemented by a picture of Shambles, the magazine says:

Surrounded by medieval walls, but with modern touches from shops and restaurants, York is the perfect mixture of history and contemporary sights – plus the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors are nearby.

It is the latest in a long line of accolades for York.
The city was named ‘the best place to live’ in 2018 in the Sunday Times.

Last July, it was found to be the happiest city in the north.
