The four leaders of the UK’s largest political parties are in York today.
We previously reported that York will play host to a major election event, with the two-hour BBC Question Time Leaders’ Special taking place today (Thursday 20 June).
YorkMix have learned that the location of this special recording is at University of York.
The event will be chaired by Fiona Bruce and will feature Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey, leader of the Scottish National Party John Swinney, Labour Party leader Keir Starmer and Conservative Party leader Rishi Sunak.
The leaders will face questions from the studio audience one-by-one, for 30 minutes each.
The show will be broadcast live from BBC1 and BBC iPlayer from 8pm to 10pm.
Though Reform UK leader Nigel Farage suggested the broadcast should feature him in the line-up after a landmark poll put his party ahead of the Conservatives, he will not be in attendance.
It will be the second time in three General Elections that York played a key role in a leaders’ TV show. In June 2017, the BBC’s Question Time leaders special also came from the University of York, and saw then Conservative leader Theresa May and Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn face questions from an audience.
