Calling all witches – there’s an event in York this week that you can’t miss!

The first ever Annual Tiny Witches Coven is to be held at Patrick Pool on Wednesday (14 June) at 6pm.

And everyone is welcome.

The event is the brainchild of Camelia Andrei and Vincent Roberts, the owners of the Hocus Pocus Tiny Hotel on the street.

They opened the hotel, complete with five magical themed rooms, a year ago. And to celebrate they are hosting the inaugural Annual Tiny Witches Coven.

“It’s a gathering of witches,” Vincent explained. “Male and female, kids, all ages – it’s family friendly.

“People can come along, feel relaxed, and get dressed up for the occasion if they want to have some fun.”

The best dressed witches will win prizes at the free event – they have ten Witches’ Caskets to give away.

All the witches will be welcomed and given a blessing with burned sage and guests will be given a complimentary potion to drink.

As well as enjoying a sneaky look round the hotel, the witches will be taken on a history tour of the city.

And there will be a major reveal – with something very new revealed in the window of the Hocus Pocus hotel.

Lots of people have already registered their interest in going to the witches’ coven – and you can too on the Facebook event page here.

Camelia said: “We’re going to have coloured smoke and take some nice pictures for the event. We’ll repeat this every year – so this is where we can build for next year.”

The Hocus Pocus Tiny Hotel has been a big hit in its first year, attracting guests from across the UK and countries including the United States, New Zealand, Brazil, Australia, Chile and China.

“It’s been here for many centuries this place, and we just brought it back to life somehow,” Camelia said.

It’s five rooms include the Librarium, the Apothecary, a ruined castle and a Victorian railway carriage.

Camelia says there have been strange moments inside the old place that have left her with goosebumps.

“I don’t believe really in ghosts. But I do believe in energies and the life after death, which is different. You can feel energies in this place,” she said.

She described their guests as “beautiful”.

“They are quirky, they are interesting, they find the place magic.”
