York Theatre Royal announce their pantomime for next year

Robin Simpson will be back for more panto fun next year
Fri 2 Dec, 2022 @ 12.14 pm Things to do Rachel Rogers

Get ready for lots of fe-fi-fo-fun – as York Theatre Royal have announced their pantomime for next year.

Their 2023 Christmas pantomime will be the family favourite Jack and the Beanstalk.

The announcement was made ahead of the opening of this year’s pantomime, All New Adventures of Peter Pan, which starts tonight (Friday).

The show will be another co-production with Evolution, and promises stunning sets, lavish costumes – and of course lots of panto magic.

Jack and the Beanstalk will run at York Theatre Royal from Friday 8 December 2023 to Sunday 7 January 2024.

Back again will be panto favourite Robin Simpson (Mrs Smee in All New Adventures of Peter Pan and Manky in Cinderella). Robin, who was nominated for a 2021 British Pantomime Award for his role in Cinderella, will be returning as the Dame.

Further casting will be announced in 2023.

Chief executive Tom Bird said: “We’re overjoyed to be working with Evolution again on another spectacular pantomime for 2023. Jack and the Beanstalk is such a well-loved story and we can’t wait to bring our fresh new take on it.

“We are also thrilled to have Robin Simpson on board once again. Audiences absolutely loved his Ugly Sister in Cinderella and he is an absolute joy to have on our stage. People of York you are in for a treat!”
