The Joseph Rowntree Theatre has launched a new membership scheme aimed at encouraging young people to enjoy live theatre.
The 17-25 Theatre Membership will give exclusive ticket deals for a selection of shows. It’s completely free to join and gives young people access to up to two discounted tickets per show.
YorkMix Radio presenter Laura Castle spoke with Hannah Grunwerg, marketing volunteer at Joseph Rowntree Theatre, to find out more about the new scheme. Check out our video below!
Joseph Rowntree Theatre is a community theatre that is completely run by volunteers.
“We believe that theatre is for everyone,” Hannah told Laura. “No matter your age or background, we want to get people in to the theatre.”
Each season there will be 1,000 tickets available across a variety of shows – just select ‘View by Genre’ and select ’17-25′ when booking to see which shows are included in this special offer.
The shows included in the offer for the current season are Guys and Dolls (18-21 Oct), School of Rock (8-11 Nov), A Christmas Carol (28 Nov – 2 Dec), and pantomime Cinderella (9-16 Dec).
Laura will be playing the character of Fairy Flo in the Cinderella pantomime at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre.
Dan Shrimpton, chair of the board of trustees, said, “We’re really excited about this new scheme and believe that fantastic live entertainment doesn’t need to break the bank.
“It’s completely free to join and gives the chance to enjoy a brilliant, affordable night of music, drama and fun.”
