Journey down the rabbit hole at Theatre@41 next week – as York theatre company present a brand new production of Alice in Wonderland.
Pop Yer Clogs Theatre are returning to the 41 Monkgate theatre with a new adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s timeless classic, after their successful production of The Importance of Being Earnest earlier this year.
The show will bring to life Wonderland’s colourful characters with hand-made puppets, costumes, and set – and a tea party-serving of absurdity.
Alice in Wonderland is at Theatre@41 from Thursday 28 to Saturday 30 November.
The play follows young Alice on her adventures underground, as she navigates her way through an imperfect and unfamiliar world. Discovering a place where absurdity is the norm, logic is turned on its head and animals can talk.
On her journey she encounters many weird and wonderful characters, including the Queen of Hearts, the Cheshire Cat and of course – the Mad Hatter!
Rob Cotterill, who plays several characters including the Mad Hatter, said: “The absurdity of Lewis Carroll’s world of Wonderland never ceases to amaze me, and I could not ask for a better cast to be exploring it with.
“The sheer level of imagination put into these characters is staggering, so having the opportunity to bring these characters to life at Theatre@41 is a real pleasure.”
After a busy year, Pop Yer Clogs Theatre will return to Theatre@41 with another new production in June 2025.
Tickets for Alice in Wonderland start from £10 and are available via the Theatre@41 website. Don’t be late for this very important date!
