Joseph Rowntree Theatre have announced their summer season – which features Broadway hits, crazy circus thrills, and live music.
As well as the promise of (hopefully) warmer weather and sunnier days to get us excited for summer, Joseph Rowntree Theatre in York have also revealed their upcoming new season.

Tickets for the new season will go on general sale from Monday 8 April.
However if you’re a Friend of the theatre, tickets are already on sale for priority booking. There are three tiers of being a Friend of the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, and as well as advance booking, involves perks like discounts on tickets, exclusive offers, free postage, and more. Broadway will be coming to York with lots of musical fun to be had – with Green Day’s American Idiot, inspired by Green Day’s chart-topping 2005 punk rock album (Thu 4 – Sat 6 Jul), the beloved re-telling of Shakespeare’s classic, Romeo and Juliet, West Side Story (Wed 24 – Sat 27 Jul), and family favourite Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, based on the the famous novel by Roald Dahl (Sat 7 – Sun 8 Sep).
For something a bit different at the theatre, there’s a floral and musical extravaganza with Inspired By Nature’s Form (Sat 8 Jun), experience a night of mind-boggling thrills with The High Jinx Magic, Illusion and Circus Show, and a Comedy Shakespeare Double Bill with two of the Bard’s best comedies condensed into forty minutes each (Sun 4 Aug).
Music lovers are well-served with a night of non-stop Queen fun with Extreme Queen (Sat 10 Aug), An Evening of Revolutionary Music where the White Rose Singers will perform groundbreaking music from stage and screen (Sat 14 Sep), and Don Pears will bring his annual music night in a fundraising event for the theatre (Sun 22 Sep).
