Staff from a York company are dashing across Europe this weekend in an amazing charity challenge.
It’s part of tech business Phoenix Software’s fundraising campaign for St Leonard’s Hospice.
They were inspired by the hit BBC One show, Race Across the World.
Phoenix Software MD Clare Metcalfe said: “We’re going to go into Luxembourg, to the Netherlands and to Belgium as well.
“And we’re actually going to make sure that people transverse all of those countries. They’ve got checkpoints around each one.
“At checkpoints they make points, and so the winner is who’s got the most points, and also the person as well who comes back in the fastest time and raises the most money. So there’s different ways to win.”
And you can keep up with their progress as the team are sending us voice notes which we’re playing on YorkMix radio.
The team at Phoenix Software, based on York Road, Pocklington, have already raised more than £16,000 for St Leonard’s Hospice.
“They’re amazing,” Claire said. “They give free, compassionate care for end of life, and it’s just a facility that no one actually ever wants to use but sadly, is in much demand.”
