Police have sealed off streets in York following a serious incident.
It is in the Bell Farm area of the city. Roche Avenue and Bellfarm Avenue are cordoned off.
There are reports of a stabbing in the area, but these are unconfirmed.
One resident posted on X: “Woken up by police helicopters. Byland Ave, York, cordoned off this morning. Stabbing.”
Residents in Bell Farm say they saw armed officers on Roche Avenue at 6.30am. The police helicopter was also on the scene.
Neighbours told YorkMix that they believed one man has died in the incident. Another person is said to be in hospital with facial injuries.
One said it had happened after 3am and was connected to a fight at a party in a home on Roche Avenue.

Crime Scene Investigation officers are on cordoned off Roche Avenue today.
Both ends of Bellfarm Avenue is sealed off by police. Residents are being allowed in and out via Huntington Road.
A number of police vans and officers can be seen on the street.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Specialist Crime Scene Investigators and officers are conducting thorough enquiries at the scene, and their work is expected to continue throughout the weekend.
“We understand that this may cause concern within the community and would like to thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work diligently to establish the facts.
“The area has been cordoned off and we would ask members of the public to avoid the area to allow our officers to carry out their work without disruption.”
Police say they will release further information when they can.
