We look set to have our very own Celebrity Big Brother contestant to cheer on this summer.
The Channel 5 show returns on Thursday (August 16) – and all the signs are that York radio star Roxanne Pallett will be one of the housemates.
Roxy – one half of the Breakfast With Ben And Roxy show on Minster FM – gave a broad hint about her appearance in an interview with OK! magazine.
The former Emmerdale star told the glossy that she had been approached by the Big Brother producers in the past:
-
I’ve been offered the show for the last six years and I have always said no. Because I’ve always felt more comfortable hiding behind a character.
But this year, since moving into radio and getting my own breakfast show, I’ve gained more confidence showing the real me. I’m more open-minded, so who knows?
Signed ‘£750K deal’
It reported that she has signed a £750K deal to take part.
If the hot rumours are proved true, she will join Celebrity Big Brother only weeks after being airlifted to hospital after crashing in a stock car race.
North Yorkshire firefighters spent two hours cutting her from the wreckage of the vehicle at Hunmanby Raceway near Filey. Roxy lost consciousness after the accident but escaped with relatively minor injuries.
Roxy won’t be York’s first claim to Celebrity Big Brother fame. Music producer and former husband of Liza Minnelli David Gest was on the show in 2016.
He had a home in York, and when he died later the same year, his ashes were scattered here.

Whirlwind romance
The mag, due out tomorrow, will tell how the former soap star got engaged to fiancé Lee Walton just one week after they met.
They bonded online over a shared love of Elvis Presley. Then Lee popped the question seven days after they first laid eyes on one another.
Roxy told the magazine:
-
When I walked into the pub and saw him I thought, ‘Oh my God, you’re real!’ I just flung my arms around him and it was like we’d been together forever. We were kissing within five minutes.
We were engaged within a week of meeting! I know it sounds crazy, but I knew my heart.
