Dig out the barbecue from the back of the shed, it’s going to be a warm one.
Temperatures in York are set to reach 20°C tomorrow (Saturday, 6 April) – that’s warmer than predicted for Lisbon in Portugal (19°C) and Ankara in Turkey (18°C).
The forecast is for sunshine all morning, with more cloud and sunny intervals in the afternoon.
But it will be breezy to, with maximum gusts up to 31mph.
Sadly, the nice weather won’t last all weekend. Strong winds and showers are forecast for Sunday, with a top temperature of 15°C.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a York weather article without a flood alert.
And one has just been issued for the Upper River Ouse.
“Flooding is possible on riverside footpaths and low-lying land in York, and to the south as far as Naburn Lock, including Kings Staith, Queens Staith, and South Esplanade from 4pm,” the alert says.
The York Viking recorder predicts that the River Ouse will reach 3.25m by 7am tomorrow (Saturday, 6 April) before falling back.
There’s also a flood alert for the Upper River Derwent. “Areas most at risk include local roads and low-lying land around the Upper Derwent and Low Marishes area,” the Environment Agency says.
