Lord Mayors’ Own Scouts, based in Bootham, threw a huge party to celebrate their 100th Birthday.
Founded by Miss Shipley on 23 May April 1923, the group provides activities for children from the age four to 14.
Many of the current Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts were at the party, which was held at the Snowball Plantation camp in Strensall.
They spent the afternoon climbing, bouncing, shooting archery and of course knot tying.
The current Lord Mayor of York David Carr was given a tour of Snowball Plantation and cut the Birthday cake.
In a sunny ceremony, LMO Group Scout Leader Dave Petty was presented with the framed necker of another founding member, Ken Appleby, by his grand children Katie and Jack.
