A York restaurant has closed temporarily after four staff members tested positive for Covid-19.
Estabulo Rodizio Bar & Grill at Vangarde Shopping Park closed on Thursday afternoon.
Rob Campbell is CEO of Churrasco Group, which runs 12 Estabulo restaurants in Yorkshire and the North East.
He said: “As a company, we take this very seriously. We closed the restaurant immediately on notification that these staff members had tested positive.
“They were sent home. The restaurant will close for seven days.
“The staff will not be employed anywhere else. And we have our own deep cleaning company that works in our restaurants.
“What is very important to us is not only our staff’s safety, but the customers as well.”
Opened last month
Mr Campbell said the group had also informed public health about the positive tests.
“We will work closely with them to make sure that they are happy with everything prior to us reopening.”
The Estabulo restaurant in York had been ready to launch when the full lockdown happened. But the pandemic put that date back and it eventually opened on 18 September.
Initial business was good. But Rob said the Tier 2 restrictions, where members of two families can’t go out and share a meal, “have put people off from eating out.
“For any hospitality business right now, times are really difficult. But in general, we’re coping fine.”
