York Rescue Boat have been involved in an unusual rescue operation in the city
A spokesperson said:
“Last night we altered our flood rescue team exercise to encompass the River Foss in York. The scenario was to locate and rescue a person in the water. Normally we use our special training manikin but this time the casualty was ‘Cyril’, the missing York BID Nutcracker figure.
One of the figures, which was part of a Christmas Nutcracker trail in York, was dumped in the River Foss.
And another was stolen according to York BID, which put them out on the streets to encourage visitors to explore other areas of the city.
The figures were taken from Merchantgate and Peasholme Green, and the thefts have now been reported to the police.
They will be replaced.
