York residents have been invited to an evening to celebrate the life of Nelson Mandela on Sunday (December 15).
The former South African president, who died on December 5, will be remembered at an event organised by Just York.
Described as “an evening for people to come together and share our thoughts, memories, stories, music – and to simply be together at this momentous time”, it all happens at Clements Hall on Nunthorpe Road.
Acapella choir Chechelele, which specialises in traditional world music, will sing and hand drumming group Voice Of The Drum will play.
You are invited to “bring songs, stories, memorabilia, banners or cloths, drinks (we can make hot drinks) and perhaps a few snacks to share – but coming empty handed is fine too. The most important thing is if you can be there.”
- The Celebrate Mandela evening is at Clements Hall from 7pm-9pm on Sunday, December 15
