A large York pub is about to reopen with a new look and a new name.
The Micklegate at 127 closed earlier this month, to undergo a refit.
It is due to reopen on Thursday evening (3 April) promising “new vibes and new experiences”.
It will also have a new name – the Harry Hotspur.
The Mickelgate at 127, on Micklegate near to the bar, shut on 23 March for a full refit. When it reopens it will have “stunning new interiors inspired by York’s rich history”.
Owned by Amber Taverns, the pub team said: “For the last 11 years, we’ve welcomed locals and those from far and wide, sharing unforgettable moments, sporting experiences, live music and many milestones together.
“As we close our doors for a much-needed refurbishment, we want to extend a massive thank you to each and every one of you who has made The Micklegate a beloved spot in the heart of York. Your support has meant the world to us!
“A new chapter awaits. This is not the end, simply a new beginning with more things to come.

“When we reopen, we’ll be unveiling a brand new concept that we’re incredibly excited to share with you all. New vibes, new experiences, but still the same great atmosphere you know and love.”
The name, which many will see as a throwback to its previous incarnation as Harry’s Bar, is a nod to an historical York figure.
Sir Henry Percy, nicknamed Harry Hotspur, was an English knight who fought in several campaigns against the Scots in the Hundred Years War.
Disillusioned with the policies of King Henry IV, he took up arms against him.
After he died in the Battle of Shrewsbury in 1403, Henry IV dispatched Percy’s head to York, where it was impaled on the Micklegate Bar.
His body was buried in York Minster later that year.
The Harry Hotspur opens at 7pm on Thursday.
