The much-loved York Proms summer picnic concert has announced its return for 2024.
It will take place in the Museum Gardens on Friday 28 July 2024. The concert will once again feature a selection of popular classical musical tunes, film soundtrack pieces, and songs performed by a live orchestra – and rounded off with a fireworks finale.
Sound good? Well even better, early bird tickets are already on sale!
Co-founder, Rebecca Newman, said “Tickets are already flying out of the door since our pre-sale opened a few days ago.
“We always try to get tickets on sale ahead of Christmas as so many people like to buy them as Christmas gifts for the music lovers in their life, as well as get a great value ticket for themselves.”
Tickets are currently at the early bird price, with adult tickets starting at £34. There are flexible ticket options also available, where tickets are refundable and transferable. Child tickets are currently £7, with those aged under five years being free of charge.
Last year’s York Proms event was a success – despite the very wet weather!
“It was a very challenging,” said Rebecca. “We were stood watching lightening radars throughout the day and the event, but thankfully nothing came anywhere near York.
“Even though the rain was relentless our crowd really took it in their stride, with some ingenious ways of combining waterproofs and flags, and some wonderful spirit of celebration. Considering we’ve had one wet event in five years, we’ve done pretty well.”
As always, the event will feature local talent on the warm up stage and during the interval – with last year seeing performances from NETheatre, York College Dance and local soloists. Applications for the community stage will open in 2024.
