City of York Council and First York have announced that the standard return Park & Ride fare will increase by ten pence from Sunday (3 February).

Fares will also go up for return tickets for young people; weekly, monthly and annual tickets; and the smart multi-day carnets.

However, return fares for children and concessions will remain unchanged and it will still be possible for up to three children to travel free of charge with one fare-paying adult.

The Park & Ride fares going up include:

  • Standard Return will increase from £3.10 to £3.20
  • Young Person’s Return will increase from £3 to £3.10
  • Smart 5-day Carnet will increase from £14 to £14.50
  • Weekly smart tickets will increase from £12.40 to £12.80
  • Monthly smart tickets will increase from £49 to £50
  • Annual smart tickets will increase from £490 to £506.

Councillor Peter Dew, executive member for transport, said Park & Ride remained great value:

  • With Park & Ride services, customers can enjoy free parking, free WIFI and frequent services to and from York.

Late night Park & Ride services are offered every Friday evening and, indeed, every evening on some services.

So, whether you’re shopping, eating, socialising or working in the city centre, you can now do it for longer.

Managing director for First York Marc Bichtemann said:

  • We will be continuing to invest in this service and are pleased to confirm that 21 new electric double decker buses will be introduced onto York Park & Ride services this year.

In addition to this, we will be upgrading the remainder of the Park & Ride fleet with low-emission technology, audio-visual announcements and the provision of USB sockets.
